The University of Veterinary and Pharmaceutical Sciences Brno was founded on December 12, 1918 as Veterinary University in Brno
•it was the first university to be established after the formation of the Republic of Czechoslovakia
The first study programme
•based on Vienna study programme (8 semesters, the graduate - a veterinary doctor (Medicus veterinarius), doctorate after thesis defence and rigorous exam (degree MVDr.)
•Association of Veterinary Medical Students - balls, trips abroad, printing of textbooks, horse riding (Hubert´s rides)

•after 17th November 1939 education stopped
•teachers and students persecuted
•some clinics provided service as veterinary hospitals
•foundation of the Department of Foodstuff Examination and Animal-origin Materials

•structure of clinics and departments the same as in the pre-war period
•effort to transfer the school to Prague
•the school gained a new farmhouse Nový Dvůr near Veverská Bitýška
